Legit recs for Old Lady Yuri: Hana Monogatari by shwinn (scanlations only, IIRC) The Single Life by Morishima Akiko (legit translation available)
There's not a lot of it out there that I'm aware of, sadly. We need an equivalent term to "silver fox" here! "Cougar" does not count.
(For real, tho, I sympathize with your actual complaint. I just had an amusing moment where I was like, "Wait, I actually know of some!" I might be able to dig around for yuri with adult women who look like adults, at least? "The Two of Them are Pretty Much Like That" might fit the bill, for example.)
👀👀👀 *screenshots for later* also wouldn't the "literal" equivalent be silver vixen? because a vixen is a female fox? like toms and queens with cats?
yeah sometimes easy (or cheesy, depending) is the way to go. but yeah i am always on the lookout for yuri featuring women who don't look like middle schoolers haha.
admittedly one of my favorite manga so far has been the lime green yuri which is really nice because they look properly like high school juniors/seniors (as opposed to either looking like 30 year olds or looking like boobsy seventh graders) and they're the right level of sexualized vs nonsexualized where if you're in that age group and you want to thirst you can but if you're an older reader like i am now you can easily ignore it so it's not weird.
Do you follow Erica Friedman on Okazu at all? She's of similar opinion about wanting more adult women in yuri, who look like adult women, and Okazu is where I've been getting most of my yuri info for well over a decade now 😛
Oh, would that be "The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All"? I've read a couple of chapters of that and it seems fun! I keep meaning to check more of it out, and then getting distracted by other things 😂
and yep! i just hate typing out that entire insanely long title on my phone unless i have to (i'm on a laptop now). i hyperfixated insanely on it for a while last year but now that the hyperfocus has worn off i'm probably gonna wait 'til it's done, since i'm not good at keeping up with things.
I get that 😂 I'm lucky I do most of my internet surfing on my laptop as opposed to my phone, because I don't think I could resist writing out the whole title, even if it is a pain. (Hopefully it would occur to me to find it typed out elsewhere and just copy-paste from there...)
Makes sense! I tend to do the same thing with podcasts and webcomics: wait until a whole bunch has built up, then marathon it.
Oh, one more rec before I go! "She Loves to Cook, She Loves to Eat". Not old woman yuri, but full grown adult women who look like adult women. I think four or five volumes are out now, plus a live action adaptation of some of it.
i do as much internet surfing as i can from laptop because phone is annoying, but also phone is easier to bring with me to go out on the town for the day since i don't have a car.
also that title alone speaks to my heart as someone whose advice any time someone asks me about romance is "find the person who'll take the tomatoes you don't like off your salad and give you the pickles they hate and you adore"
